About 50 youth in the creative arts industry in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region have undergone a six-day intensive training in movie production to sharpen their skills and enhance their employability.
The training forms part of the Job and Skills development initiative spearheaded by the Member of Parliament of Ketu South, Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, aimed at promoting self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods among the youth in the municipality.
In October 2025, Madam Gomashie, who also serves as the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, donated movie production equipment valued at over GH¢100,000 to support the training programme and strengthen the local creative arts industry.

According to the MP, the donation was intended to stimulate the growth and development of creative arts in Ketu South, noting that although many young people were involved in movie production, comedy skits and other creative ventures, most lacked access to modern and professional equipment.
She said investing in the creative sector was critical, as it had the potential to create jobs, tell local stories, and contribute significantly to the local and national economy.
During the six-day programme, participants were taken through key areas of movie production, including script writing, camera handling, sound production, lighting techniques, and basic post-production processes, facilitated by experienced industry professionals.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Blackmore Ayivor, a member of the Ewe Movie Producers Association, described the training as timely, noting that the film industry was rapidly evolving with new technologies and techniques.
He expressed gratitude to the MP for supporting the creative arts sector with modern equipment and professional facilitators, saying the intervention would improve the quality and competitiveness of local productions.
Mr Boss Quintin, a participant, praised the MP for her continuous support for creative talents in the municipality, stating that the training had broadened their knowledge and boosted their confidence in producing quality content.
Another participant, Mr Megbedza John Friday, commended the lead facilitator, Mr Ivan Quashigah, and his team for delivering practical and insightful lessons that would guide participants in their future productions.
At the end of the training, participants were presented with Certificates of Merit in recognition of their commitment and successful completion of the programme.
