A total of 643 eligible voters who registered for the special voting exercise, are expected to cast their votes at the Ebenezer Methodist Church polling centre in the Bantama constituency of the Ashanti Region.
As at 0835 hours when the Ghana News Agency visited the centre, 101 persons had cast their votes and departed peacefully.
The Special Voting exercise scheduled ahead of the 2024 general elections, was to enable security persons, journalists, election officials and other persons who would be on special duty on the main election’s day to cast their votes.
The exercise is currently being held in all constituencies across the country, except the Eastern and the Western regions due to issues related to the printing of new ballot papers.
In the Bantama constituency, two candidates are contesting the parliamentary seat in the December 07, elections.
They are Mr. Francis Asenso-Boakye, of the (New Patriotic Party) NPP and Mr Simeon Addai Dapaah of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Bantama Constituency is one of the strongholds of the NPP.
However, the NDC’s candidate had pledged to take it over in the upcoming elections.
