The Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has commissioned a newly constructed Maternal and Child Health Clinic at Juapong in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The facility, built and fully equipped within six months through a partnership between the MP and the Engage Africa Now Foundation, is expected to handle more than 3,000 safe deliveries annually.
Mr Ablakwa, who also donated medical equipment to make the clinic fully operational, said the project would significantly enhance maternal and child health outcomes in the area.
“This is a major step forward in improving access to quality healthcare for mothers and children in Juapong and surrounding communities,” he said.
The MP used the occasion to outline several other development projects approved for the constituency, which include the construction of key road networks such as the Aveyime–Asutsuare, Juapong–Podoe–Abutia, and Sege–Battor–Mepe roads, as well as the Volivo–Dorfor Adidome Bridge over the Volta River.
Other projects earmarked for implementation are the provision of dormitories, dining halls, and laboratories for all five Senior High Schools in the constituency, alongside the construction of a teachers’ bungalow.
Mr Ablakwa further disclosed that his office had made arrangements to cover the cost of checking results for all Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in North Tongu.
He assured constituents that despite his national and international responsibilities, he remained committed to ensuring accelerated development under President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda.”
