Mr. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, on Tuesday called for the heads of three major Hospitals in the Greater Accra, to appear before Parliament’s Health Committee over the alleged denial of medical care to the late Charles Amissah, a hit-and-run victim.
The Hospitals, are Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Police Hospital, and Greater Accra Regional Hospital, allegedly denied medical to the late Mr Amissah, a hit and run victim who died on Friday, February 6, 2026
“Mr. Speaker, the matter cannot be left unresolved… Any individual found culpable must be sanctioned to serve as a deterrent,” he said.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin made the call when he made a formal statement on the death of the late Amissah, a former engineer with Promasidor Ghana Limited, makers of Cowbell Milk and other food products, on the floor of Parliament.
The Minority Leader demanded duty rosters, bed occupancy records, and investigations into possible breaches of the 2018 Ghana Health Service directive.
“If misconduct is established, sanctions must follow; if negligence is proven, prosecution must follow,” he stated.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin, also the New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament for Effutu, called on Police to intensify efforts to catch the hit-and-run driver. “Mr. Speaker, let us deploy every resource… to track down and apprehend this individual,” he added.
