Agona Nsaba (C/R)-Ghana, Dec. 13, GNA – The Agona East District Assembly has presented 800 dual desks to the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to be distributed to public schools within the district.

Mrs Janet Odei Paintsil, the District Chief Executive, at a handing over ceremony at forecourt of the old Assembly Block in Nsaba,  observed providing furniture to various public schools was one of the assembly’s biggest challenges.

She informed the gathering that as the representative of the President who has education as one of his topmost priorities, a decision was taken by the assembly to make allocation from the District Development Fund (DDF) to procure the desks to help create healthier environment for children to study.

She gave assurance that the assembly would procure furniture annually to meet the increasing enrolment needs in the public schools and hoped government will aid them in this direction.

The DCE further said providing educational infrastructure would help improve academic work in the area and that the assembly will not relent on its efforts to continue to invest heavily in education.

She mentioned the construction of a three-unit classroom block each at Tawara and  Duakwa District Assembly Schools as some of projects the assembly embarked on in the district in January 2022, which had been inaugurated and handed over to the Educational Directorate.

Mr Thomas Koffie, Agona East District Director of the GES, who received the desks on behalf of the GES, thanked the assembly for the support.

He stated that the provision of the desk will go a long way to supplement what was already in place in the various schools and expressed the hope that more of such dual desks and other support for the enhancement of teaching and learning will be provided to augment what the Service provided.

He assured that his office will ensure that they are used for the purpose they were provided and maintain them to prolong their life span.
