Akontombra District Assembly confirms DCE

Assembly members in the Akontombra District of the Western North Region have confirmed Mr Joseph Appiah, the President’s nominee for the Akontombra District Chief Executive (DCE) position.

All the 22 members made up of 15 elected and seven appointees voted yes, representing 100 per cent to confirm his nomination.

Mr Appiah in his acceptance speech, thanked the President for the confidence reposed in him, and promised to complete all abandoned projects in the district.

Mr Wilbert Petty Brentum, the Western North Regional Minister, charged the new DCE to ensure he took pragmatic steps to fight the illegal mining menace in the area.

He also asked him to ensure companies with legal mining license carried out their operations responsibly to protect forest reserves and rivers bodies within the Akontombra District.

The confirmation was attended by traditional authorities, Members of Parliament (MPs) for Akontombra and Wiawso constituencies, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, former MP for Wiawso, Mr Yawson Amoah, the immediate past DCE for Akontombra and other party faithful.
