Tema-Ghana, July 21, GNA – Some customers of the Tema-based Aluminum company, Aluworks Ghana Limited are crying foul, describing as fraud treatment meted out to them by the defunct aluminum company.

Scores of the customers alleged that money had been paid to the aluminum manufacturing company to provide them with roofing sheets, but the company was not able to deliver the materials.

Mr Issah Binney, a customer, told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that he needed to roof his building and had paid for Aluworks to provide him with a roofing sheet since March 2021, but the roofing sheet had not been provided.

He said he has made several follow-ups but all to no avail, stressing that the situation compelled him to write a letter seeking a refund, but the company has still not heeded his request.

According to Mr. Biney, his project has been stalled since 2021; ‘the woods have been left to the mercy of the rain and sun,” he lamented.

Ms Rebecca Asare, a customer, also revealed that the situation was having some negative impact on her health, adding that she felt frustrated and disappointed in how management of Aluworks has turned deaf ears to their plights.

Ms. Asare further said prices of building materials were skyrocketing by the day, saying the neglect by the Tema-based aluminum company was unacceptable, with a call on the government through its appropriate agencies to intervene.

The Ghana News Agency visited the facility to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the allegations, and an officer who spoke on condition of anonymity stated that the company has not been in active operation for some time.

He noted that some customers had written to the company seeking a refund of their money, saying the issue had been referred to their major stakeholders, the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), and that the issues would be resolved.

The officer also apologized to the customers for the inconvenience caused, adding that all the anomalies would be corrected.

The Ghana News Agency, however, observed that the company was empty, with all the offices closed.
