Some parents of Basic School children in the Anloga District of the Volta Region have formally notified the public including the Anloga District Commander of the Ghana Police Service of their intention to hold a peaceful demonstration on Tuesday, February 24, this year.
The demonstration is scheduled to take place from 0900 to 1300 hours along the principal streets of Anloga, with targeted concerns against the District Director of Education, Mr Dominic Yao Dzanado.
In a press release dated December 25,2025, signed by Mr Albert Amaglo, the Convener of group, copied to the Ghana News Agency, stated some grievances including allegations of mismanagement, maltreatment of teachers and violation of the Ghana Education Service Code of Conduct.
“The Director has been involved in uncountable abuse of authority and selective administrative justice, which prompted the need for public expression of concern. We did what we can to stop this act but to no avail, demonstration is the next option,” he said.
Mr Amaglo, who is also a teacher at the Anloga Evangelical Presbyterian (EP) Basic School, assured that the demonstration would be peaceful, orderly and would not disrupt public peace.
He said police at Volta Regional Police Command and Anloga District police have been notified to help guide, protect and maintain law and order and to ensure the safety of all participants during the protest.
“A copy of the notification have been sent to various stakeholders, including the District Director of Education himself, the Member of Parliament (MP) of Anlo Constituency, and the District Chief Executive of Anloga (DCE), traditional authorities such as Togbi Zewu IV, Dome Fia and Du Fia of Anloga, and several media houses stations for coverage,” he said.
He said that several meetings and consultations were held to solve some of the alleged malpractices, but the moves seemed not to yield any tangible result.
He accused the Director of Education of unnecessary transfer of teachers without replacement and unreasonable demand of money from students for external examinations many teachers were not aware of.
Mr Amaglo said the demonstration aims to bring attention to educational governance issues in the municipality and seek redress for the alleged malpractices affecting teachers and students.
Meanwhile, Mr Dominic Dzanado when contacted by the GNA, denied the allegations and promised to provide his version of the situation to the Ghana News Agency at the appropriate time.
He said information he gathered clearly indicated that the demonstration was planned to defame him.
