Mr. Mohammed Awal, Head of Security at the Assembly, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that persons believed to be members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) were seen moving away the tricycles on Saturday, May 17.
He said when he confronted them on whose authority they were taking away the tricycles, they said the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the District Coordinating Director were aware of their action.
When he later reached out to the two officials for confirmation, they both denied knowledge about the incident, thereby proceeding to file a formal complaint to the Police.
The tricycles were reportedly in a state of disrepair and awaiting necessary maintenance for their intended purposes.
The missing tricycles are currently the subject of an ongoing investigation by the Police.
