Mr Mahama Ayariga, the Majority Leader, on Friday dismissed allegations that investigative agencies were being used to silence the Minority in Parliament.

According to him, he had never witnessed such practices in his nearly two decades of parliamentary service.

He said, “Mr Speaker, I have been in this House for close to two decades—as an opposition member, as a minister, and now as Majority Leader. I have never seen anything like that.”

Mr Ayariga made the remarks during his concluding statement on the Floor of Parliament before the House adjourned sine die for the Christmas season.

Parliament on Friday, December 19, 2025, adjourned sine die for the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic after 35 sittings held within nine weeks.

The adjournment brought to a close weeks of deliberations, debates, and legislative business that saw Members of Parliament (MPs) consider a wide range of motions, bills, and reports.

During his remarks, Mr Ayariga, also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament, thanked the speaker and his two deputies, MPs, the clerk to parliament, the media, parliamentary service staff, and other staff for their support that ensures a productive Meeting.

Meanwhile, Mr Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, in his closing address reminded MPs to prioritize their health and spend quality time with their families.

“To all honourable members, please spend time with your family. We have worked hard enough. Let’s use this period to check our health,” he urged.

“When we leave this abode, the Constitution requires that there must be a replacement. Life will go on without you. Don’t be afraid to know your medical condition. It is better to know and treat it than live in fear of the unknown, only for it to worsen,” he added.
