Sunyani, Jan. 02, GNA-The Very Reverend Dr. Solomon Bruce, the Superintendent Minister of the Wesley Methodist Cathedral in Sunyani has entreated Ghanaians to be more nationalistic in all spheres of life in 2024 for holistic national development.

He stated every New Year paved way for an assessment about one’s life, attitude of work and relations with others but the positive manner of impacting on the lives of others contributed for the socio-economic progress of the individual and the nation generally.

Very Rev. Dr. Bruce made the call in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani as part of his New Year message to Christians and the public.

Touching on the Election 2024, he advised the electorate to elect selfless and dedicated persons with the general well-being of the people at heart but not selfish, self-seeking politicians “who do not care about the nation’s current generation and posterity”.

Very Rev. Dr. Bruce emphasised the need for every Ghanaian to understand that “we put our destiny in the hands of politicians every four years”, saying “we must therefore not exchange our fate with money and other material things” to the detriment of the nation’s sustainable socio-economic future.

He said the electorate thus had a critical role to play in the development of the country by voting for responsible leaders ready to unite, defend the rights and promote the welfare of the people and not greedy leaders who only sought the interest of the few people around them.

Very Rev. Dr. Bruce, also the Sunyani Municipal Synod Secretary of the church urged Christians to let their lives portray Christ by demonstrating Christ-like character in the schools, workplaces and in their communities.

As a way of effective evangelisation, the character of every true Christian must be Christ-centered to portray the true nature of Jesus Christ for others to emulate such a noble example, he added.

Very Rev. Dr. Bruce urged Christians not to think about the challenges that the New Year might bring but must always trust more in God because God was always ahead of His people and had better plans for all who truly believed in Him.
