Mr Dickson Kyere-Duah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum West, has drawn the attention of Parliament to the growing spate of armed robbery attacks along the Jinijini-Drobo-Sampa stretch in the Bono Region.
In an urgent statement on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Kyere-Duah said the attacks were being facilitated by the poor state of the Jinijini-Drobo road, which served as a major trade link between Ghana and neighbouring Côte d’Ivoire.
He noted that the deteriorated road network created unsafe conditions for commuters and provided opportunities for criminal elements to target traders and travellers.
Mr Kyere-Duah urged the Ghana Police Service to intensify visibility and night patrols along the corridor while government expedited efforts to asphalt the road to ensure safety and smooth trade activities.
The MP lamented that the recent armed robbery incidents had resulted in the loss of lives, injuries, destruction of property, and psychological trauma for victims and their families.
He called for urgent intervention to restore public confidence and protect economic activities in the area.
