A press release issued by the Ghana Water Limited (GWL), copied to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, said the incident occurred on Monday, January 19, affecting water transmission to communities including Ashaiman, Gbetsele, Akatamanso, Klagon, Lashibi, Baatsonaa, Spintex, parts of East Legon, Nungua, Teshie, and surrounding areas.
“The incident has resulted in a significant interruption to water supply across several communities within the affected corridor,” the release said.
It noted that engineers and technical teams were mobilised immediately after the fault was detected and had been working around the clock to repair the damaged pipeline.
“Due to the size of the transmission main and the complexity of the repair, the restoration process requires careful handling to ensure safety, durability, and efficiency,” the statement said.
The company assured the public that every effort was being made to complete the repair works as quickly as possible and restore normal water supply.
GWL expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for patience and understanding.
It said the GWC would support essential service providers, particularly schools and hospitals, and encouraged them to contact the company through the following channels for assistance:

The GWL assured affected customers that water supply would be restored immediately upon completion of the repair works and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this interruption may cause and appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued customers.”
