The Oti Regional Police Command, has reported of dousing the at Abunyanya, a farming community near Nkwanta North District following the communal clashed over land dispute between Abunyanya No.1 and Abunyanya No.2 leading to the death of two persons.
A press statement signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) by Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr John Nchor, Public Affairs Officer said, Ghana Police Service received information about gunshots and burning of houses at Abunyanya on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
The statement said, a joint Police and military team were deployed to Abunyanya communities to restore law and order.
It explained that upon arrival, two houses were found burnt and two adult male dead bodies with gunshot wounds.
According to the statement, the deceased were identified as Gabuha Bolator and Tanaja Ntsayon, were conveyed to Nkwanta South Municipal Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
It again revealed that opinion leaders of both communities have been engaged and urged to exercise restraint, while Police investigations continued.
The statement explained that joint Police and military patrols were being sustained towards maintaining calm in the area.
