Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), has provided free health screening for residents of Baatsona and its environs in Accra.

The beneficiaries, numbering about 300, and of different age groups, attended the session held Sunday at the premises of Power in Worship International Ministries.

Health professionals assisted participants to check their blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol levels, and provided counselling on maintaining healthy lifestyle.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mrs Mavis Frempong, the Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brands, explained the bank’s CSR initiatives, focused on health, education and community service.

She said the CSR pillar on health sought to provide free screening for 1,000 people across three locations by the first quarter of the year.

Mrs Frempong, speaking on behalf of the Bank’s Managing Director, Dr Naomi Horlali Kwetey, emphasised the importance of regular health checks.

“A healthy mind resides in a healthy body; you cannot manage your health if you don’t know your status…” she said.

“The theme for this year is ‘Know your numbers in the area of diabetes, blood pressure, and cholesterol. You can only know where you are before you can treat it,” she stated.

Mrs Frempong noted that having a health issue was not “a death sentence as there are ways to stay healthy even if one is on the borderline or has crossed certain health thresholds.”

She emphasised CBG’s commitment to community health and well-being, and thanked partners who supported the health screening.

Medical doctors reiterated the importance of routine health checks, healthy diet, and regular exercise, as part of measures for early intervention and prevention of common ailments.

CBG is an indigenous financial institution that provides superior banking solutions. It obtained a universal banking licence to conduct fully-fledged banking activities in 2018.

The Bank has, over the years, positioned itself as a reputable and profitable brand, becoming one of the largest and leading Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SME)-oriented banks in Ghana.
