Adidome (V/R)-Ghana, Nov. 10, GNA – The Centre for Empowerment and Enterprise Development (CEED), a vocational training institute at Mafi-Adidome in the Central Tongu District will from next year open an incubation centre for fashion graduates.
The incubation centre, an initiative of International Needs Ghana would provide opportunity for the graduates to polish their skills, a learn good business practices and work to raise capital to set up their own businesses.
Mr Cromwell Awadey, Executive Director, International Needs Ghana who disclosed this at a graduation and homecoming ceremony of CEED at Adidome said the incubation centre was made possible by the support from their partners from Northbrook Church.
The Executive Director said graduates would spend two years in the incubator to improve upon their skills and to generate the needed capital to move into the world of business to set up and run their own enterprises.
He said the Government continued to place premium on TVET and the attendant policies such as tax holidays for businesses for young people as well as other policies targeted at youth self-employment to push the frontier of businesses.
Mr Awadey urged the youth to take advantage of the improved policy environment for the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the country and leverage technology to enhance their businesses.
The Executive Director charged the graduates to depend on God for a successful business career, be committed and remain strong, utilising every skill and knowledge they had acquired to surmount challenges to remain business.
He said CEED had prepared the graduates to be motivated by godly values, justice, rights and sense of purpose and was confident that the graduates would move in that spirit to take their rightful places in the world of business.
Madam Mawulorm Gbekor, Team Leader of CEED, said the goal of the institution was to equip trainees with exceptional vocational skills that would make them globally competitive.
She said the rebranding of the institution as CEED some five years ago had seen the Centre taking vocational training a step higher through the acquisition of state-of-the art equipment and increased use of information communication technology tools.
The Team Leader said besides Fashion and Design, Hospitality and Cosmetology, trainees of the institution benefited from skills in event décor management, bead design and make-up artistry.
“We are very proud of the remarkable strides we have made so far, and believe that we are on track to being a notable name in the technical and vocational training sector,” she said and thanked all and sundry who contributed to their success story.
A total of 73 trainees, from the Hospitality, Cosmetology and Fashion and Design Units graduated and were awarded certificates.
Some of the graduates told Ghana News Agency, the training they received at CEED had prepared them for the job market.
They said they were ready to go into the business world with the knowledge and skills they acquired to run their own businesses and to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
