Accra-Ghana, March 19, GNA – Ghanaian Amapiano sensation Mark Kwesi Arthur, popularly known as “DJ Azonto,” is excited after being nominated for the New Artiste of the Year at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
The “Fa No Fom” hitmaker is on the shortlist for the New Artiste of the Year, which also includes Chief One, Malcolm Nuna, Jay Bhad, Lasmid, Djay, and Ewura Abena.
DJ Azonto said in an interview that he felt honoured by the nomination considering the hard work he put in during the year under review.
“I want to thank God Almighty for this new milestone, as well as my fans and other industry players who have supported my music.
“The year 2022 was a big year for me, having performed at some big shows and also giving fans some amazing tunes,” he stated.
DJ Azonto congratulated the other nominees in the category and was confident he would emerge victorious in the category considering his exploits during the year under review.
Some of Azonto’s groundbreaking hits include “Kaba Ne Skirt,” “Wagaashi,” “Add Wale,” “VGMA,” “Ampe,” and “Enfa Bi Da,” as well as the ever-banging song “Fa No Fom.”
He has won numerous awards over the past few months, including Best Song of the Year at the Ghana DJ Awards and Africa Spotlight Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Entertainment/Choice Awards.
