The Government has received the DNA results on the remains of six other victims of the tragic helicopter crash near Obuasi in Ashanti Region to aid in their identification.

Results of the advanced forensic analysis conducted in South Africa were transmitted electronically on Sunday.

The results cover the remains of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress; and Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

The rest are Squadron Leader Peter Anala of the Ghana Air Force, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo of the Ghana Air Force.

Earlier, the DNA results for two of the victims; the late Dr Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, were successfully received.

Consequently, the State held an Islamic burial for Dr Murtala and Alhaji Limuna, and their bodies were interred at the Military Cemetery at Burma Camp in Accra on Sunday.

Speaking at the burial service, President John Dramani Mahama said the Government would work together with the families of the six other victims to ensure befitting burial rites.

The President reiterated that on August 15, 2025, there will be a state burial for all the eight departed compatriots.

The families of the deceased were at liberty to hold separate funeral rites and assured that the nation would support their activities, he said.

President Mahama also assured the families of the deceased that they could visit the grave site at the Military Cemetery without any interference.

Ghana ended three-days of national mourning with a reflection and memorial ceremony in honour of the eight heroes at the forecourt of the State House Saturday evening.

The nation would gather again on August 15 to bid farewell to the eight compatriots who perished in the line of duty.
