Sandema (U/E)-Ghana, Nov. 19, GNA – The Leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Builsa North Constituency of the Upper East Region, says it is working to capture 90 per cent presidential votes in the 2024 general election.
The Chairman of the Party in the Constituency, Mr James Achaab, said the Party had over the years won in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections, and would continue to work to improve its fortunes in the Constituency.
He said apart from the 90 per cent presidential vote target, the Constituency executives have also targeted a 60 per cent vote target for the parliamentary election.
“My priority is to at least, win 90 per cent votes in the Presidential election and 60 per cent votes in the Parliamentary election,” Mr Achaab said.
The Chairman said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Sandema after he led executives of the Party to present a cash donation of GH₵5000.00 to the Team of Hope, a Non-Governmental Organization.
The donation, done on behalf of the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr James Agalga, was to support the NGO conduct its annual free surgical operations for residents in the area and beyond.
Mr Achaab said even though the Builsa North Constituency was traditionally an NDC seat, they would not relent on their efforts, but embark on rigorous grassroots campaigns to achieve their targets.
He said with the current economic hardship in the country, the electorates needed not to be told the need to bring back the NDC government and maintain the party’s parliamentary candidate.
According to the Chairman, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had failed Ghanaians, and it was clear that the masses were eager for a change in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He said the ‘One Village, One Dam,’ ‘One District, One Factory’ as promised by the NPP could not be found in the Constituency.
“Today, costs of items are very high, constituents cannot afford even simple soup ingredients. We do not need to tell them about their economic situation. They are feeling the heat,” the chairman said.
Mr Achaab said the NDC appreciated the suffering of Ghanaians, and urged them to remain calm and peaceful, and wait patiently for the 2024 elections to vote the party of their choice.
