Election2024: Eleven women to contest parliamentary seats in Western region

A total of eleven women will be contesting in this year’s election as members of parliament in the Western region. 

Out of the figure five are contesting on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), three for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), two independent candidates and one for the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

Mrs Dorcas Affo-Toffey who is the incumbent Member of Parliament of Jomoro would be contesting three other candidates, Mr Paul Essien of the NPP, Madam Samia Nkrumah an independent candidate and Nana Blay Miezah of the Convention people’s party (CPP).  While Mrs Mavis Kuuku Bissue a first timer is contesting the   Ahanta West seat with Mr Francis Eric Pobee of the NPP.

Mrs Joana Gyan Cudjoe, who is vying for the Amenfi central seat would be contesting with three others, while Madam Emilia Arthur former Deputy Western Regional Minister would be vying for the Shama seat with   Mr Isaac Kwamina Afful.

Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah, a second timer would be battling it out with Mr Charles Cromwell Bissue of NPP for the Essikado-Ketan Constituency seat.

Mrs Catherine Afeku of the NPP and former Minister would be contesting with Mr Kofi Arko Nokoe of the NDC for the Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira constituency while, Mrs Getrude Effah Monah would be battling it out with Mr Isaac Mensah for the Wassa East seat, with Madam Barbara Oteng -Gyasi vying for the Prestea Huni-Valley seat with two others.

Meanwhile madam Samia Nkrumah would be contesting the Jomoro Seat as an independent candidate, Ms Joy Joycelyn Andoh would also be contesting the Tarkwa Nsuaem seat as an independent while madam Theresah Kwaw would be contesting the Mpohor seat on the ticket of the Liberal Party of Ghanan (LPG).

In the Western North Region two women would be vying for seats, Mrs Louisa Nkuah Kwayie would be contesting on the ticket of Ghana Union Movement (GUM) in the Sefwi Wiawso constituency while, with Ms Ernestina Oppong   would be contesting for the Juaboso seat on the ticket of CPP.
