Ms Bondzie, who, prior to her new appointment was the Deputy Managing Director for Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST Energies), has over 15 years of experience in business development, energy transition, and strategic management.
The Commission, in a release announcing her choice on Wednesday, said she was noted for driving innovation and sustainability, connecting technical and commercial functions, and consistent in advancing operational excellence, profitability, and long-term value.
The statement recognised her ability to initiatives that established organisations as industry leaders and improved public service delivery, including her pioneering work at BOST, where she established the first Trading Desk that generated US$20 million in profit in two years.
Her footprint in the expansion of Ghana’s strategic petroleum reserves from four to 12 weeks between 2014 and 2016, strengthening national energy security and earning the BOST Leadership and Dedication Award in 2015 was also mentioned.
The statement noted that Ms Bondzie, earlier, managed multi-million-dollar engineering projects for TechInsights Canada, delivering on time and to high quality standards for international clients.
She holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Public Policy from the University of Bath, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in International Business and Strategy from Henley Business School.
She also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Information and Communication Technology from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Graduate Diploma in Project Management from Algonquin College.
The statement noted that the new Executive Secretary’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions, aligned with the Commission’s corporate strategy with national development goals to promote economic growth and environmental benefits.
“The Energy Commission asks all partners, and stakeholders to extend their full support and courtesy to the new Acting Executive Secretary, Adwoa Serwa Bondzie, to ensure a successful tenure,” it stated.
Her appointment comes at a time when staff has reposed confidence in the Management and the Professor John Gatsi Board, noting the regulatory and policy reforms, fair labour practices and welfare in 2025.
The Staff, in a reflection of operations last year, noted that since mid-August 2025 when the board came to Office, there had been improvement in licensing effectiveness, stakeholder engagements, progress in salary levels and addressing outstanding labour related issues.
They also noted that challenges at the port was receiving attention with the regulatory environment strengthened, while notices were issued to the public about the regulations of Electric Vehicle Charging stations.
The appraisal acknowledged some appointments to help strengthen regulatory compliance and efficiency, achieve local content regulation goals, and motivate staff to deliver the best for the Commission.
