Mr Francis Bullen Davor, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Rock Africa Limited, has commissioned a six-classroom block for the Ekroful Primary (A) basic school in the Gomoa Central District of the Central region.

The block has facilities like offices, washrooms and special pad-room for girls as well as a solar powered water pump for uninterrupted water supply.

The project was implemented under the supervision of Mr Francis Appiah-Amoh, a native of Ekroful who solicited for assistance, with Nananom of Gomoa Aboso, Benso, Ekroful and Akropong No.2 monitoring.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Davor said the project was the company’s social responsibility to help train human resource in the area.

He added that quality education required investment in children with the provision of good environment for effective teaching and learning, hence a solar powered electricity for students to study in the night.

He called on the parents to encourage their children and guide them to stay focused as they study to secure a better future.

The CEO said Rock Africa had helped the Ekroful Primary (A) school to form a Cadet with two sets of uniforms, to enable them to do more trainings and would provide GHC100,000 as an annual seed money to be used to maintain the building.

Mr Davor therefore charged the management of the school to take very good care of the facility and urged the school children against acts that could damage the project and facilities provided.

The chiefs praised the efforts of the CEO to help train human resource in the area, and installed him as the Development Chief of Gomoa Aboso, Benso, Ekroful and Akropong No2 with the stool name, Nana Davor I.

Nana Odum Amanfo IV, the Chief of Gomoa Akropong NO2 who spoke on behalf of the other chiefs presented a stool and native sandals to Nana Davor to signify that he was a Development Chief.

Nana Davor expressed gratitude to the chiefs for the honour done him and his family and pledged that Rock Africa would continue to aid the chiefs and people of the area.

He pledged to give scholarship to 10 brilliant students to various Universities of their choice as part of efforts to build solid human capacity to enhance progression of the town.

Mr Appiah-Amoh said his father, the late Opanyin Amoh, had a vision to support schools in the four towns but died early, so he decided to continue his vision and contacted with the CEO of Rock Africa Limited to help him to achieve that dream.

After briefing the CEO of the dilapidated structures of school, he agreed to undertake the project.

Mr Appiah-Amoh called on citizens both home and abroad to support the development of their town.

Mr Hackman Aidoo, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Gomoa Central thanked the CEO of Rock Africa Limited for his immense contribution.

The Assembly he noted, had renovated an old six classroom block, and that the government under President Mahama had put enough plans in place to enhance education in the district.

The DCE therefore admonished the management of the school to maintain the block and assured the CEO that the Assembly would strictly monitor the maintenance money to ensure it was used to maintain the school block and other facilities.
