Accra-Ghana, June 19, GNA – Female referee Mohammed Sakina Nasara is reported to have been assaulted by the Head Coach of Tiyumba, Iddrisu Suweidu, in a Division One B league match.
Referee Sakina is currently receiving treatment at the Tamale Technical University Hospital after sustaining various degree of injuries.
There are videos and pictures circulating on social media of the brutal damage suffered by the female referee during the match.
The Ghana Police in Tamale are reported to be on a manhunt for Coach Iddrisu, who is alleged to have committed the assault.
Information gathered by GNA Sports suggests that Coach Iddrisu invaded the pitch to assault referee Sakina after a decision went against him.
Reports claim that the coach threw punches and slapped the female referee, bringing the game to a halt.
The Northern Regional Football Association are currently investigating the matter, with the appropriate sanction to be announced in due course.
