Accra-Ghana, July 21, GNA – Rev. Dr Joyce Aryee Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries has urged females to foster collaboration in order to achieve collective goals in their leadership journey.

The former Minister of Education made these comments whiles speaking at the maiden HD+ LeadHers Xperience event which seeks to give female corporate leaders the platform to amplify and empower other women in the area of Technology, Engineering, Sports, Government, Media, Security and Education.

“Collaboration rather than competitiveness, we need to compete, but competition is not really needed for success. Leadership should be collaborated and as women we often emphasize collaboration as a means to achieve collective goals.”

Rev. Dr Aryee noted that despite the bias in the respective fields, collaboration was a key driver in encouraging open communication even in male dominated spaces.

“One thing we should remember is not to go into a leadership role thinking that the men are against us, even if they are against you, win them over by working together.

We have to do everything to make sure our success is predicated on ensuring that everybody thinks we are winning together,” she urged.

She said there was a need for females who occupy leadership roles in societies to be generational minded in order to pave way for other females who would seek to assume such roles years to come.

The Executive Director of Salt and Light Ministries said empowering each other as women would help make females relevant in societies.

Madam Mercy Tagoe, former Head Coach of Ghana’s female side, Black Queens also said women were still battling issues of bias in their respective fields, hence serving as obstacles in their leadership process.

“As a leader, you need to adapt all the leadership skills, there are times you need to pretend as if nothing is wrong and also be democratic,”she said.

Among the speakers who encouraged female participation in Ghana societies were Madam Adelaide-Abbiw-Williams, CEO of SES HD Plus Ghana, Madam Pan Macdonald, Chief People Officer at SES S.A, Valeri Labi, Co-Founder and CEO of Wahu,Dr. Lucy Agyepong, Vice President of Institutional Advancement at Academic City University College and Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq), Director of Services at Ghana Prisons Service.
