The Party called on workers to resist environmental destruction and stand against the degradation of forests and water bodies.
In a message marking the 2025 Workers’ Day, Wing Commander Patrick Nelson Sogbodjor, Chairperson and Leader of the CPP, described illegal mining as a threat to environmental sustainability and food systems.
He noted that while the Government had made some progress in addressing the issue, “a bit more speed and sternness” were needed to achieve greater impact.
“…every second of this menace causes irreversible environmental damage and long-term economic malaise and food security problems, due to the degradation of our water bodies, fish stock, and farmlands,” the CPP said.
While commending workers for their dedication to national development, the CPP urged them to fight corruption in their workplaces and always prioritize the nation’s interests.
The Party acknowledged the Government’s progressive plans to revitalize the country and assured that it would continue to “keep an eagle eye” on its actions.
It pledged to offer praise, when necessary, provide constructive criticism, and propose solutions, as it had done with previous administrations.
“The CPP urges all well-meaning Ghanaians who love this country to continue to be the kindly light, leading the fight against corruption at their workplaces, and whenever they see something, to say something,” the Party said.
