President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his government’s relentless commitment to fighting corruption, saying it will not be business as usual as his appointees will be held accountable.

“We will stand in the fight against corruption relentlessly, knowing that it undermines the very fabric of our society,” he said on Sunday at the Christian National Thanksgiving Service in Accra.

“Persons who find themselves appointed to public office have to be made aware that they will be held to the highest ethical and professional standards.”

The President cautioned all those applying to him with their Curriculum Vitae (CVs) for appointments that it was not going to be an easy job and business as usual.

“We will come to the understanding that we’re stewards of the resources and trust bestowed upon us by the sovereign people of Ghana,” President Mahama said.

Quoting from the Bible, he said: “The Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to work it and take care of it”.

The verse, therefore, reminded them of their duty to be good stewards of their nation.

“We should take Ghana as the garden of Eden… God gave us a charge to work in our country and to take care of it,” he said.

The current Administration, President Mahama said, would diligently work to restore Ghana’s economic fortunes, adding; “We will work diligently to promote sustainable energy and protect our environment.”

“We will ensure equitable distribution of resources so that all Ghanaians can benefit from the bountiful blessings that God has given us.”

President Mahama said the challenges Ghanaians faced were enormous, but with determination, innovation, and a collective effort, they would be surmounted to build a Ghana that future generations would be proud of.

“As we embark on this journey, may I humbly ask for your continued prayers and partnership. Governing a nation is a responsibility that requires wisdom, strength, courage, and humility,” President Mahama stated.

“I will continuously seek the counsel of men and women of God, knowing that without Him, we are nothing.”

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sins, and will heal the land,” the President quoted from the Bible.

He urged Ghanaians to continue to humble themselves, pray, and seek God’s guidance as they worked together to heal their land.

“As we join hands in prayer for peace, unity, and prosperity for our beloved nation, may God guide us in every decision and strengthen us for the task ahead.”

The Thanksgiving Service was to appreciate God for His blessings over Ghana for a peaceful 2024 General Election.

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the First Lady Lordina Mahama, leading members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) including Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman, Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the General Secretary and the Party’s Members of Parliament attended.

Also in attendance were leading clergy of the country: the Reverend Dr Stephen Wengam, General Superintendent of Assemblies of God; Rev Sam Korankye Ankrah, Apostle General, Royalhouse Chapel; Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and Overseer of Christian Action Faith Ministries Worldwide; and Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, Founder and Archbishop, Perez Chapel International.

The others were Apostle Dr Isaac Owusu-Bempah of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Dr Lawrence Tetteh, Founder/President of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Bishop Salifu Amoako, the Founder/ General Overseer, Alive Chapel International; Bishop Gideon Titi-Ofei, the Presiding Bishop, Pleasant Place Church; and Prophet Akwasi Agyemang Prempeh, the General Overseer of Springs of Joy Ministries International.
