– Undefeated Ghanaian boxer and WBO African Featherweight Champion John Laryea (13-0-1, 11KOs) has left Ghana for the United States to prepare for his forthcoming fight against Nicaraguan boxer Alexander Mejia.

The bout, slated for Friday, November 1, 2024, at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, USA, will see the Ghanaian boxer aim to establish himself in the featherweight division as he seeks a world title.

Laryea, nicknamed “Expensive Boxer,” left Ghana on Friday with his coach, Carl Lokko, who is well-known for producing world winners in previous years.

Before his departure, Laryea expressed optimism about getting a victory against a Nicaraguan boxer who he says has a high pedigree having fought with former champions.

“It is my first fight in the USA, and I promise Ghanaians that I will bring home the win because I have good management around me. I have been preparing for this bout for about eight months, and I am ready,” he said.

“This is my 14th fight, and I am determined to get another impressive win, and with my trainer Carl Lokko, I can say I am in pole position for that,” he said.

The last time Laryea was in the ring was back in December 2023, when he handed Isaac Dowuona a knockdown at the Golden Royal Beach Hotel in Accra.

Other high-profile fights on the bill are Chavez Barrientes vs. Brandon Douglas, Deron Thompson vs. Malik Lewis, and Alexander Rios Vega vs. Felix Santana Jr.
