Hundreds of revellers gathered at the Gold Coast Restaurant in Accra for a festive fufu party that became the talk of the town and left unforgettable memories on the merrymakers.

The fufu jamboree saw the fun-seekers sit in front of their bowls of fufu with light goat and groundnuts soups, kissed their glasses of beer and danced to the soothing live music.

The event was organised by Maggi, a popular eatery and leading food seasoning brand of Nestle Ghana Limited, together with Gold Coast Restaurant as part of the Christmas celebration.

Madam Deborah Kwablah, Corporate Communications Manager, Nestle Ghana Limited, said fufu is a meal enjoyed by most Ghanaians irrespective of which part of Ghana the person come from and so it was a better way to usher the public into the end of the year celebration.

She said the party was to promote food tourism which is in line with the ‘Eat Ghana’ agenda that is part of an integrated campaign called “See, Eat, Wear and Feel Ghana,” by the Ghana Tourism Authority.

“So we have seized that opportunity with the Gold Coast Restaurant to cook this sumptuous food and this is about the second time we are having the food party. We look forward to more excitement and a good 2025,” Madam Kwablah said.

She said merrymakers would enjoy a lots of cooking, grilling and baking which would be championed by Maggi during the yuletide, adding that citizens needed to promote and support good local dishes and contents and their experiences would be worthwhile.

Miss Magherita Amon, Category Development Executive, Maggi Ghana, said the party was also to educate consumers of the local ingredients used to prepare the Maggi products.

“We again use events like this to make our friends in the diaspora know the quality local products of Maggi. Our ingredients are local ingredients in the kitchen. We have Maggi shrimp, Maggi deidei, Maggi tablets and Maggi chicken as variants on the market,” she said.

Mr Enoch Kojo Selasie Tsagoli, General Manager, Gold Coast Restaurant, said the restaurant hosted the fufu party on a quarterly basis within the year and it had gone on in the last three years.

“We’ve had some good number of people coming around for the event but it picks up during December when a lot of people are in town. We serve an aspect of the tourism industry. We must promote our local foods and push them to where they can get international awareness and that’s exactly our aim,” he said.
