The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has undertaken a one-week monitoring and supervision exercise in selected districts across the Volta, Bono, and Bono East Regions to ensure effective implementation of the programme and adherence to operational standards.
The exercise, conducted from January 26 to 30, focused on the inspection of kitchen equipment used by caterers, assessment of eating utensils, and verification of hygiene and sanitation practices at feeding centres.
A statement signed by Mr Siiba Alfa, Director of Public Relations at GSFP, copied to the GNA said the team also reviewed data on daily feeding activities, including beneficiary numbers and meal consistency, to ensure accurate reporting and accountability.
It said the monitoring assessed cooperation between caterers and school authorities, particularly the timely preparation of meals to avoid disruption of instructional hours.
The statement noted that the team observed commendable efforts by many caterers and schools in maintaining acceptable hygiene standards and serving pupils nutritious meals. Caterers were also given guidelines to address identified gaps.
“We commend all our stakeholders for their support and cooperation in the implementation and sustainability of the GSFP,” the statement added.
