Mr Godfred Kwan, the Assembly Member of the Katakyiekrom Electoral Area, on behalf of the chiefs and people made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
He said the clinic was a self-help project initiated by the community in 2018.
Mr Kwan who conducted the GNA round the project site, said actual construction work commenced in 2022, saying “the construction work started with strong enthusiasm and support from community members, however it was abandoned due to the lack of funds.
“With communal labour, the community has been able to roofed the building, which is left with some minor works,” he added.
Mr Kwan appealed for support towards completing the plumbing and electrical works, flooring and ceiling as well as fixing of the doors and windows.
He also requested for modern medical devices and supplies as well as hospital beds.
In a related interview, Madam Franklina Owusu, a health worker at the Katakyiekrom Community-based Health Planning Services (CHPS) compound, has also appealed to the public to come to their aid, complaining about the poor condition of the facility.
She said the CHPS compound was also not spacious to meet the health needs of the growing population at Katakyiekrom at its adjoining communities.
Mr Owusu Acheaw, another health worker at the CHPS compound, complained about the dust and mud that filled the compound during the dry and wet seasons and thereby making it difficult for the health workers to provide quality healthcare service delivery.
He expressed concern about an ancient heap of refuse dump around the facility, serving as breeding grounds for mosquitoes, rodents and reptiles.
Madam Diana Yeboaa, a resident farmer, also told the GNA that the deplorable condition of the CHPS compound was making it difficult and dangerous for pregnant women to deliver at the facility, and appealed for support to complete the clinic for the people.
