A 20-year-old labourer is spending his Christmas holidays in prison custody for possessing fire arms without authority and threatening to use it to kill another person.
Silas Owusu pleaded not guilty to the two charges when he appeared before the Nkawie circuit court presided by Mr Robert Addo and would be brought back on January 09, 2026.
Police Chief Inspector Evans Ayimbisa prosecuting, told the court that complainant, Kwadwo Addo and Silas, were both residents of Abuakwa in the d.
He said, on December 21, 2025, at about 16:00 hours, the complainant, who was on his way to the Abuakwa palace, saw the accused person fighting with a neighbour and separated them.
The accused person became offended and attempted to hit the complainant with a peace of wood, but he took to his heels and the wood was left on the ground.
The prosecutor said when the complainant returned to the scene again, this time, accused person pulled out a Brazilian pistol from his pair of shorts and threatened to kill him.
The complainant however, managed to escape, and reported the matter to the Abuakwa police.
With the help of some angry youth in the area, the accused person was arrested.
In his caution statement he admitted the offence and led the police to his room where the police conducted a search and retrieved a pair of scissors and a knife.
After further investigations he was charged and brought before the court.
