Lancaster University Ghana has pledged continues support to socio-economic development through the development of its students.

Referencing a previous colloquium held in collaboration with the Vienna University of Economics and business in February this year, Dr. Emmanuel Arthur, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lancaster University Ghana, said in his speech at the 8th undergraduate graduation ceremony that the colloquium would remain an annual event to spur growth.

“Students, thought-leaders, academics and industry practitioners will be given the platform to contribute their knowledge for socio-economic development,” he said.

He said the University’s pre-COVID-19 flagship programme “Business Cup Challenge” for high schools, which was relaunched in February would also be an annual event to partner them and build their skills and competences before they commenced tertiary education.

Speaking on employability, Mr. Arthur explained that over 90 students of the University undertook internships with various local – international institutions to enable them to merge theory with practical.

He reiterated the University’s commitment to provide high quality and global experience to students, particularly on the African continent.

Highlighting the importance of technology, the Vice Chancellor revealed that an artificial Intelligence lab was almost at completion and would serve all students.

He congratulated the granduants and urged them to pursue higher positions in paths they took after school.

Professor Simon Guy, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University, United Kingdom, also praised the granduants for their achievements and encouraged them to be problem solving individuals and encourage adaptation to change.

He announced plans to open a new overseas campus in Indonesia, adding that it was part of Lancaster’s broader vision for global outreach and inclusivity.

The University held its 8th undergraduate graduation ceremony in Accra, which saw more than 40 students from different countries receiving degrees in various fields.
