Mr Tetteh stated that teachers’ well-being must be a priority in national development because they have made significant contributions to preparing the younger generation for leadership roles.

“We must assist teachers in whatever way possible so that they can train our children to be effective leaders in the near future,” he said.

He reiterated that the Municipal Education Directorate had been in a rented building for 47 years and that it was his personal endeavour to develop a new office complex for them.

Mr Tetteh highlighted the huge infrastructure facilities in the education sector that he has built in the municipality over the last seven years as MCE, aimed at facilitating teaching and learning.

Additionally, to show his appreciation for teachers and their commitment to changing lives, he donated items worth GH¢130,000 to the award scheme.

He highlighted that the programme’s goal was to support hard-working and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff from kindergarten (KG) to senior high school.

He said, “Teachers should be acknowledged by their students, their parents or guardians, their administrators, and the general public in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and respect.”

He called on educators to inspire, care for, and instil respect for others in the next generation of youth.

“We face challenges such as lack of learning and teaching materials, delays in capitation grants, and others. We know the government is doing its best to support the education sector, but he needs to look more into it to ensure that quality service is delivered,” he noted.

In all, 34 teaching and non-teaching staff were awarded items including gas cookers, laptops, refrigerators, and, among others,
