President John Dramani Mahama is in the Ivorian Capital, Abidjan, to address the 60th Annual General Meeting of the Africa Development Bank (AfDB) Group and the 51st Annual Meeting of the African Development Fund.
He was received on arrival at the Felix Houphoet Boigny International Airport by Mr Kone Amadou, the Ivorian Minister of Transport.
The Meeting, which is on the theme “Making Africa’s Capital Work Better for Africa’s Development”, is taking place from May 26 to 30.
The key highlight of the meeting is the election of the institution’s new President.
According to the AfDB Group, the governors of the African Development Bank would elect a successor to the current Group President, Dr Akinwumi A. Adesina, whose second five-year term was ending.
More than 6,000 delegates, including African heads of state and government, finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners, private sector representatives, civil society leaders, academics, think tanks and opinion leaders, NGOs, and other stakeholders, are expected to take part in the event.
President Mahama’s Delegation include Dr Callistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President and Mr Stan Xoese Dogbe, the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency.
