The incident occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
A statement issued by Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, paid tribute to the victims, describing their loss as a “devastating blow to Parliament, the Government, the Armed Forces, and the people of Ghana as a whole.”
It also extended condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the Parliamentary Caucus, acknowledging the sacrifice, patriotism, and commitment of the deceased.
The victims of the crash were Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, and Member of Parliament for Tamale Central; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The rest were; Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Former Parliamentary Candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Pilot; Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, Co-pilot; and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Crew member.
The government has announced a period of national mourning, with flags flying at half-mast across the country.
