Accra-Ghana, Jan. 30, GNA – It was a cracking 90 minutes of drama at the Bantama Astro Turf as Northern Ladies came back from two goals to pick a point against Fabulous Ladies in the matchday eight of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League (WPL).

First-half goals from Princess Owusu and Charity Mensah got the homers in the lead as Pearl Forson and Grace Ntsiful also came to the rescue of the visitors.

The first half of the game was a good one to watch as both sides were eager to grab early goals with some impressive displays.

Fabulous Ladies despite having a poor start this season did not play as a weak side but kept a solid play through skipper Princess Owusu who was sensational upfront.

The ladies from the north were vigilant in their defence despite the threat from the homers as they cemented their lines to keep the game barren in the first 20 minutes.

A perfect corner kick header from Fabulous Ladies skipper, the ‘Princess of goals’ in the 27th minute of the game saw the Kumasi-based side take a 1-0 lead ahead of their opponents.

Northern Ladies nearly responded to the lead a minute after but a one-on-one brilliance from the goalkeeper, Ohene Nana was enough to keep her side in play.

Fabulous Ladies were still on top of their game deepening the woes of their opponent who were resolute to see the scores stable edging into the first half of the game.

Charity Mensah extended the lead of the homers in the 38th minute of the game with a Puskas Award contender of a goal from a direct corner kick sending Fabulous up by two goals.

Substitute, Pearl Forson could not wait for the first half to end as she pulled a goal back for Northern Ladies to end the half in favour of the Kumasi-based side.

After recess, Northern Ladies were hungry to grab an equalizer hoping to break the defense of Coach Prince Acheampong’s side with their long balls.

It was Ntsiful who got the equalizer for the visitors from the spot-kick with a thunderbolt to quench the thirst of her side in the 54th minute of the game.

After all the efforts to get that all-important winning goal, both sides failed to utilize some goal-scoring opportunities as the matchday eight clash ended 2-2 at the Bantama Astro-Turf.

Wasiima Mohammed of Northern Ladies won the Most Valuable Player award after an impressive performance to pick a point for her side.
