In line with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, reflecting His constant concern for citizens under all circumstances, Morocco’s government has announced a comprehensive programme to rehabilitate areas affected by the exceptional floods that struck Safi on Sunday, December 14, following unprecedented torrential rains.
The floods caused human losses and significant damage to infrastructure and essential facilities across several neighborhoods, according to a statement from the Head of Government’s department.
The recovery programme, designed to ensure rapid and efficient intervention, included urgent measures to alleviate the impact of the disaster. These measures cover emergency aid for families who lost personal belongings, restoration of damaged homes, and reconstruction or repair of affected commercial buildings, with financial support extended to their owners.
In accordance with His Majesty’s High Guidelines, human and logistical resources have been mobilized, and coordination among relevant stakeholders strengthened to guarantee swift implementation.
Local authorities will begin executing the planned measures immediately to meet the needs of affected populations and ensure the gradual completion of all program components.
The initiative underscores Morocco’s commitment to addressing the consequences of natural disasters and embodies the care His Majesty extends to citizens.
It also reflects a solidarity-driven approach aimed at sustainable recovery and enhanced resilience against future risks.
