The items donated included 10 packets of roofing sheets and cash amount of GH¢5,000.00 to reroof the Chobogo Basic School classrooms in the community.
The MP, speaking after the presentation, appealed for greater support from various stakeholders to come to the aid of the school to solve the distressing situation.
Professor Beyuo, in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) described the situation in the community, noted that devastation was beyond the capacity of one person to address fully.
He appealed for more donations from philanthropists, non-government organisations and individuals to provide immediate support to the affected.
He called on the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO) and the Volta River Authority (VRA) to speed up action to replace the broken electricity poles to restore power to the community particularly the health facilities and the affected households.
Mr. Maalituo Bakorah, chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC) who received the items expressed gratitude to the MP for the kind gesture and intervention to the school.
He noted the items donated would help to reroof the school building for the academic activities to go on smoothly.
He emphasized that the MP’s gesture came at the right time and would help to prevent total distraction of the academic activities for the term.
The GNA, in an interview with some residents who were worried about the situation and how their wards could go to school amidst raining season applauded the MP for the kind gesture and timely intervention.
“We are grateful to the MP for his kindness, and we pray to God to continue to bless him,” some residents said.
The rainstorm destroyed school infrastructure, clinic, houses, and 28 electrical poles were totally breaking down causing massive destruction and leaving many families homeless and without electricity.
