Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, the new Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC) at Nutekpor in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region, has been inducted into office at a short ceremony.

Commodore Asiedu-Larbi took over from Commodore Bright Emmanuel Kojo Atiayao, who was in charge of the Command from June 2023 until March 2024 before being re-assigned.

At the induction ceremony held on Sunday at Nutekpor, led by Reverend Commodore David Benedict Quayson, Director of Naval Religious Affairs, the new FOC  pledged to be faithful and loyal to Ghana.

During the induction sermon, which was on the theme: “Service in Humility in God Leads to Success,” Rev. Commodore Quayson tasked the new FOC to accept his new role with dedication and humility.

“Attend to duty with all humility and dedication it required. Let everybody be part of your administration because respect is reciprocal,” he urged.

Rev. Commodore Quayson further urged all officers to relate well with others, adding, “Tomorrow can never be told. Be nice and respect one another.”

He pointed out that the work of a military officer remained a calling and that only committed soldiers could face the challenges associated with their duties.

Rev. Commodore Quayson also charged the officers to strive for excellence through high integrity, honesty, and dedication.

He tasked every officer to join forces to put the Naval Command in a better position in all aspects of security-related issues.

On his part, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi outlined several plans and tasks of the Naval base for peaceful co-existence.

Key among them was to defend the country from unlawful activities of secessionist groups.

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, the Volta Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf as a special guest of honour, commended the FOC on his new role.

He charged him to ensure the safety and security of the people of Volta and Ghana at large.

Commodore Asiedu-Larbi, born on March 31, 1970, joined the Ghana Navy on November 2, 1995 and was commissioned on August 22, 1997 as a Sub Lieutenant as part of Regular Career Course 37.

He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology and a Master of Arts Degree in International Affairs from the University of Ghana, Legon, as well as an MA Degree in International Security and Strategy from King’s College, London.

Commodore Asiedu-Larbi has also undergone a myriad of military training/courses which include, the Global Strategic Programme Course and, the Principal Warfare Officers’ Course, among others.

Until his latest task, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi held numerous appointments in his career as a Naval Officer.

Notable among them are the Deputy Chief Staff Officer at the Naval Headquarters with additional responsibilities as the FOC, Riverine Command, Military Assistant to the Chief of the Defence Staff, and Naval Secretary to the Chief of the Naval Staff.

The ceremony recorded several dignitaries including Professor Ben Honyenuga, Vice Chancellor of Ho Technical University, government officials, traditional authorities, sister security agencies, and others.
