The School of Maritime Operations (SMOPS) has commenced a Radar Plotter 1 Course at the Naval Training Command (NAVTRAC), Nutekpor, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance navigational competence and operational effectiveness within the Ghana Navy.
The course, which began on Monday, seeks to provide participants with essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills in radar plotting and interpretation to support safe navigation and effective maritime operations.
The training also forms part of SMOPS’ sustained efforts to strengthen capacity and reinforce professional standards across the Ghana Navy.
Participants would be taken through a structured blend of classroom instruction and practical training aimed at improving accuracy, situational awareness, and sound decision-making at sea.
Commanding Officer of SMOPS, Captain Michael Cudjoe, who welcomed the participants, highlighted the importance of radar proficiency in contemporary naval operations, noting its relevance to safety, efficiency, and professionalism at sea.
He encouraged the trainees to approach the course with dedication, discipline, and to actively engage throughout the training to maximise its benefits in their respective assignments.
Captain Cudjoe noted that the course aligned with the Ghana Navy’s broader commitment to continuous professional development and operational excellence.
