The Nkwanta North District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has paid a courtesy call on Mr Isaiah Kudjo Dordoe, the District Chief Executive (DCE), to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions for effective civic education in the district.
The visit, led by Mr Fuseini Nurudeen, the District Director of the NCCE, was to formally engage the District Assembly at the beginning of the year and outline areas where joint efforts would be required, to promote good governance and responsible citizenship.
Mr Nurudeen said the engagement was necessary because civic education was a shared responsibility and could not be successfully implemented by the NCCE alone without the support of key stakeholders, particularly the District Assembly.
He explained that the Commission intended to work closely with the Assembly in areas such as environmental governance, child protection issues, peaceful coexistence, revenue mobilisation, and accountability to the people.
Mr Nurudeen emphasised that educating citizens on their rights and responsibilities would contribute significantly to development and social cohesion in the district, adding that the NCCE was committed to deepening democratic values at the grassroots level.
Responding, Mr Dordoe lauded the NCCE for the initiative and assured the Directorate of the Assembly’s readiness to support its programmes and activities.
He stressed that peace was fundamental to development, noting that without peace, no meaningful development could take place in the district.
Mr Dordoe encouraged continuous engagement and collaboration between the NCCE and the District Assembly, to ensure that residents were well informed and actively involved in governance processes.
The meeting ended with a mutual commitment to work together to promote peace, accountability, and sustainable development in the Nkwanta North District.
