Mr Daniel Kwaku Botwe, outgoing Member of Parliament for Okere has been honoured as ‘Nkosuohene’ (development Chief) of Akuapem.

The honour is recognition of his hard work, integrity and honour brought to the people of Akuapem throughout his political life and particularly as the MP for Okere.

Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio, Akuapem Nifahene and Chief of Adukrom who spoke on behalf of Oseadeyo Kwasi Akuffo, the Okuapehene said: “The whole of Akuapem is impressed with your hard work and selfless service to Ghana.”

He said the move was for the Akuapem traditional area to tap into his vast experience in politics, selfless service, development, and mobilization as he retired from Parliament, come January 2025.

Mr Dan Botwe, a former General-Secretary of the NPP and Minister of State bows out of Parliament after 16 years of sterling leadership to the people of Okere.

In the last 16 years as the MP for Okere, he has endeared himself to the people evident on the significant development, and his humility in relating to both the chiefs and people.

His mark of integrity in politics was heightened when he ably led the Ministry of Regional Reorganisation and Development, to create the additional six new regions in the first term of the NPP government.

On his part, Mr Dan Botwe who was surprised at the turn of events, thanked the chiefs and people for the honour done him and for their support and cooperation.

He said: “I remain your MP for the next 10 days” adding that, he would officially bid farewell to the people at the next Akwasidae.

He pledged and assured the people of supporting the Okere MP-ELECT, Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth as well as the development of Okere and Akuapem in general in every capacity he could.

Present at the ceremony was Oseadeyo Kwasi Akuffo, the Okuapehene, Otubuor Djan Kwasi, Akuapem Adontenhene and Chief of Aburi, other divisional chiefs and Mr BDK Adu, former MP for the area.
