In 2024, the Ministry plans to build on the progress made in 2023 by undertaking activities such as organising a working session with the Core and Expanded Leadership of Parliament on the need to promote effective collaboration among MPs.

The Ministry intends engaging the independent governance institutions to educate the citizenry on their regulatory functions and to facilitate a meeting with political parties to identify their roles in ensuring credible, peaceful and transparent elections.

Mr Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in Parliament and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, in moving the Motion for the House to approve the amount, said the amount had been allocated for the performance of the core functions of the Ministry such as initiating and formulating policies, considering the needs and aspirations of the people.

He said it would facilitate development planning in collaboration with the National Development Planning Commission.

Mr Kwame Ayimadu-Antwi, the Chairman for the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akim Central, said having thoroughly examined the Budget Estimates of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for the 2024 fiscal year, the Committee was of the view that policies and programmes outlined for the year would go a long way to contribute to the national effort at securing for the present and future generation, the blessing of liberty, equality of opportunity and prosperity in a united stable country within the election year.

Mr Bernard Ahiafor, the Ranking Member for the Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee and National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Akatsi South, in contributing to the Motion, urged the Government to ensure that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs was adequately resourced to enable it to perform adequately.
