The Command also arrested Amidu Jubril, 40, the driver of the truck, a release issued by DSP John Nchor, the Public Affairs Officer, copied to the Ghana News Agency, said on Wednesday.
It said on February 10, 2026, the Oti Regional Police Command, acting on intelligence, intercepted a DAF Long Trailer with registration number GW 1943-09 at Dambai and conducted a search on it.
“It was discovered that the trailer, though appearing empty, had been modified with secret compartments sealed with six (6) metal plates,” it said.
The concealed compartments beneath the trailer were opened in the presence of suspect Jubril and a search led to the discovery of the 4,000 parcels of compressed dried leaf substances wrapped in a yellow masking tape, suspected to be narcotics.
“The truck has been impounded and all exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes,” the release said, adding that the suspect had been detained and was assisting Police with investigations.
“The Regional Police Command assured the public of its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences,” it said.
