The crash claimed the lives of all eight persons on board, including two cabinet ministers.
The deceased include Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defencec, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology; Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator and Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC and Former Mayor of Kumasi.
The rest were Samuel Aboagye, Former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala; Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah of the Ghana Army.
PUFA, in a statement signed and issued by Dr. Paul Fynn, the President, copied to the Ghana News Agency, described the accident as a great loss to the nation.
“This loss is not only for the affected families but also a national tragedy that has robbed our country of dedicated public servants who have devoted their lives to its progress,” the statement said.
Their contributions to national development would be remembered with respect and gratitude, it said.
While expressing its solidarity with the Government and Ghanaians, PUFA urged all to let the tragedy serve as a reminder of how fragile life was and the essence of love, compassion and unity.
“We pray for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and for strength, comfort, and healing for their families and all who are affected by this devastating incident,” it said.
