Prof Danquah chairs Ghana National Research Fund

Professor Eric Yirenkyi Danquah, Founding Director, West Africa Centre for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana, has been sworn into office as Chair of the Ghana National Research Fund.

The 13-member Governing Board for the Ghana National Research Fund was inaugurated by Mr. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, in Accra.

Established under Act 1056 by Parliament and assented by the President in December 2020, the Fund has now become operational with the inauguration of the Governing Board.

Prof Danquah, in his acceptance speech, emphasized that the Ghana National Research Fund offers a transformative opportunity to sustainably finance research, innovation, and technology development across sectors critical to national development.
