Jennifer Eduam emerged champion in the Women’s Singles, with Margaret Sarpei placing second and Allana Faith Sulo finishing third.
The championship, which is organised every three years on December 26, aims at identifying and nurturing badminton talents for national development.
Mr. Evans Yeboah, President of the Ghana Badminton Association (GBA), commended the athletes, officials and organisers for a successful competition.
He said the Regional Mixed Team event, held every three years on Boxing Day, served as a key platform to replenish Ghana’s talent pool.
He said, “this year has been an awesome year with back-to-back international competitions, where Ghana won a lot of medals, ending the year with the Regional Mixed Team event was important and what we saw today shows the quality of talent and age groups we are developing.”
Mr. Yeboah expressed optimism about the future, noting that Ghana would participate in several local and international competitions next year, including the Senior Championship in Botswana, which doubles as an Olympic qualifier, as well as the Youth Olympic Games.
He added that the Association had earmarked young athletes for future international assignments and would intensify capacity-building through coaching education courses, technical officiating programmes and specialised training for media practitioners to enhance reporting and understanding of badminton in Ghana.
