Forty people with various health conditions at the weekend underwent free surgeries at the Chiraa Government Hospital in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region to improve their health status.
Including two children, the beneficiaries were suffering from hernia, fibroid, lipomas and hydrocele and other related conditions, sponsored by the Sunyani-based Suncity Group of Companies, operators of Suncity Radio.
Dr Philip Anokye, the Clinical Coordinator at the Chiraa Government Hospital who disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) called for the expansion of the hospital and modern medical devices and equipment.
He said the facility was going through several challenges, including limited space and wards, and appealed for support towards the completion of surgical and maternity wards projects which had been abandoned due to lack of funds.
Dr Ankoye expressed appreciation to the Suncity Group of Companies for their continuous support, and appealed to corporate bodies, NGOs, and religious organizations to come to their aid.
He said with the expansion, the facility could meet the health needs of the growing population and improve outcomes as well.
Mr Ransford Antwi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Suncity Group of Companies, also told the GNA that the free surgeries were in line with the company’s medical outreach initiated to support vulnerable people to access quality healthcare delivery.
He expressed appreciation to some partners and individuals for their support, stressing the company’s commitment to ensuring that people in deprived communities access quality healthcare to improve their health status.
