Techiman (BE/R)-Ghana, Nov. 10, GNA – The Techiman South Municipal Assembly has mobilised Gh¢2,775,133.31 as internally generated fund (IGF) as at September this year.
The amount represented about 99 per cent of Gh¢2,814,633.48 total IGF the Assembly projected to mobilise within the year, Mr Benjamin Yaw Gyarko, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) announced this when he addressed this year’s third ordinary meeting of the Assembly at Techiman.
He said that was achieved through pragmatic measures introduced by the Assembly to improve revenue mobilisation, and assured strategic plans had been initiated to sustain those measures to record even higher IGF in the months and years ahead.
Touching on efforts being made to maintain the provision of effective security, Mr Gyarko said the Municipal Security Committee (MUSEC) had increased stringent measures for the protection of lives and properties in the municipality and its environs.
He stated the security agencies had strengthened both foot and vehicular patrols with underground surveillance to track down miscreants who might want to pose threat to the prevailing peace being enjoyed by residents in the municipality.

Social Assembly Meeting 2But the MCE reminded residents effective security requires collective effort and, therefore, urged them to committedly support the security agencies by volunteering information about miscreants and unknown, suspicious characters in their communities to the Police to apprehend them for the maintenance of peace and progress in the society.
Mr Gyarko said education was key to national development, hence the government through the Municipal Educational Directorate had implemented policies and programmes, including training of newly employed teachers on professional ethics and standards to promote effective teaching, and learning in the municipality.
He added to ensure quality state of health of pupils and students, the Municipal Health Directorate had distributed insecticide-treated mosquito nets to pupils to reduce the incidents of malaria infections which had been the major cause of absenteeism in schools.
