Voting delays in some constituencies while others vote NDC primaries

Tema-Ghana, May 13, CDA Consult – Delegates from the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Tema Central Constituency began voting at 09:00 a.m. at Presco Park in Community 4.

In an interview, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama Jajah, Regional Vice Chairman, told newsmen that 1,104 delegates from 119 chapters are likely to vote, explaining that there will be nine delegates from each branch, 28 constituency executives, and six previous government appointees voting.

Mr. Jajah went on to say that three candidates would be chosen: Courage Makafui Nunekpek, Ebi Bright, and Carl Owuompesika.

He explained that two polling booths have been established to assist smooth voting and speed up the process.

Supt. George Kwakye Police Officer in charge of Tema Central, indicated that the police were always ready to preserve peace and order in conformity with electoral rules and any other legislation.

Motorbikes and other vehicles were expected to park 200 metres away from the voting station, he said.

Politics NDC Tema

At the Ashaiman Africa Advance School Park where approximately 3,172 delegates are anticipated to vote, the process has delayed. Voting was scheduled to begin at 07:00 a.m., however as of 09:00 a.m., it had not begun due to the late arrival of electoral materials.

Tony Afenyo, lawyer David Worwui-Brown, and incumbent Ernest Norgbey are the three candidates for the Parliamentary seat.

Large presence of police was noticed, who are also assisting by transporting metal barricades to demarcate the area, despite the fact that voter turnout has been increasing in recent minutes.

Voting at Kpone-Katamanso, has also delayed due to the late arrival of electoral materials. The voting materials arrived at 07:30 am.

However, the Police, and other party officials, delegates eagerly wait for the final arrangements towards the start of the voting as.

At Kpone 2,264 delegates are expected to vote at the Don Bosco Church. The contestants are: Mr. Joseph Akuerteh Tettey, Mr. Moses Tetteh, Mr. Emmanuel Salam Azubila, Mr. Abednego Afotey, and Mr. Abraham Tettey Teye.
